Mexico's Biggest Drug Smugglers
The famous Joaquìn Archivaldo Guzmán Loera or better known as “El Chapo” (The Shorty) the famous drug lord was captured and put into prison only to escape once multiple times. He was captured first in 1993 and then escaped in 2001. He was finally caught in 2014 and escaped again in 2015 and was caught once again! As of April 12, 2016 he is still in prison. He smuggled Methamphetamine across the border and passed it off to other dealers in the U.S.
Another Drug Lord worth talking about is Servando Gómez Martínez. He is commonly known as "La Tuta" or "El Profe" meaning "The Teacher". Gómez Martínez made a recorded statement to a local television station in Michoacan, in which he publicly acknowledged that he was a member of La Familia Cartel, and, among other things, stated that the cartel was in a battle against the Mexican federal police and prosecutors. He was arrested on February 27, 2015 and remains in prison.
